Recommended Programming for Viking K-1900-5

Problem:   ETP series call stations are unable to dial out on non-traditional analog lines. (Cable modem terminal adapters, fiber module analog terminal adapters, etc.

RESOLUTION:
Install Viking Electronics K-1900-5 Auto Tone dialer.

To program the Viking dialer, call into the line connected to the device, and have something answer the call.   This can be an EC-8, AOR, call station, or someone with a handset.
  1. Enter the default access code  *845464 (VIKING),  wait for a double beep in confirmation.
  2. Enter *3 to restrict user dialing,  wait for a double beep in confirmation.
  3. Enter *4 to allow touch tone dialing after the auto dialer has completed it's dialing,  wait for a double beep in confirmation.
  4. Enter *5 to set the delay before dialing to the factory setting,  wait for a double beep in confirmation.
  5. Enter  <phone number to dial>#00,  wait for a double beep in confirmation.
  6. Disconnect the call.
Programming for an EC-8 or AOR (if present)
  1. Call into the unit or go off hook on the local phone, and what for three tones.
  2. Enter *31** to access programming,  wait for a single beep in confirmation.
  3. Enter *39*1* to set the unit to mode 1, wait for a single beep in confirmation.
  4. Set the rollover as needed.

Programming for ETP-100, ETP-110, ETP-400 and ETP-500 series devices
  1. Call into the station (*4X* where X is the port number of the station) and wait for the ID tone to complete.
  2. Enter *4** to access programming, wait for a single beep in confirmation.  If two tones are heard repeat the *4**.
  3. Enter *14*3*, to set the unit to mode 3, wait for a single beep in confirmation.
  4. Enter *40*5* to delay the dialing, wait for a single beep in confirmation.   This is the delay before the Talkaphone dials,  The delay may need to be increased to ensure it dials after the Viking unit.
  5. Enter *13*58* as the primary number to be dialed, wait for a single beep in confirmation.
  6. Enter *55* to set the unit to disconnect on 30 seconds of silence from the remote side
  7. Enter *78* to enable two-way conversation on inbound calls.
Misc:
Configure relays as needed and record a greeting if needed.
Pres # to disconnect when completed.

If using Day Night Mode
  • Set the number of rings to at least 5, as the added delay in connecting can make 3 rings very hard to answer.  Enter *18*5*, wait for a single beep in confirmation.
Ideal outcome:
When the call station goes off hook on the telco line the Viking unit should dial and the call should be connected and start to ring.  As the ringing occurs, the Talkaphone unit should dial.  When answered the call station should play its message if configured to do so and reach two way conversation.
