General Maintenance of Talkaphone Products - ETP-110, ETP-20 ETP-500, ETP-520, AOR-CSE, VOIP-500, and VOIP-600, VOIP-200, VOIP-220 Series and The AOR-IP-CSE
DAILY: Verify connectivity.
- Confirm connectivity of unit automatically using ETP-TAL or VOIP-TAL software. Unit connectivity can also be confirmed manually by pushing the button on the unit or by calling into the unit.
WEEKLY/BIWEEKLY (Depending on humidity, contaminant, and vandalism levels.) : Perform visual and functional test.
- Press button to activate unit.
- LED should light to indicate CALLING.
- Blue light should flash (if connected, e.g. in a wall mount or tower).
- Voice message should play (if programmed to do so).
- LED should light to indicate ANSWERED.
- Sound quality during conversation should be clear in both directions.
- After the remote attendant (answering party) terminates the call, the call station should automatically hang-up (may take up to 30 seconds depending on programming) and the call station should return to its normal state.
- After the call station hangs up, the blue light should stop flashing. Check that the blue light is brightly and solidly lit.
- Check stainless steel and painted surfaces for discoloration, residue build-up, and scratches. See Sections (2) and (3) below for further details.
MONTHLY: Perform functional
test of mass notification feature(s) (if configured and supported).
- Prepare test mass notification to be distributed to the appropriate devices.
- Initiate and send mass notification.
- Check audio volume and intelligibility at the physical location of the device. Make any necessary adjustments.
QUARTERLY/BIANNUALLY - BASIC: Perform detailed inspection of phones and mounts.
- Verify weep hole on bottom of wall/pole mounted enclosures are clear for water drainage.
- Verify bottom of free-standing towers and pedestals have an unobstructed air gap for airflow and water drainage.
- Tighten any loose fasteners (e.g., faceplates, cameras, solar mounts, brackets, blue lights, etc.).
- Clean clear polycarbonate blue light housing with mild soap and water. Applies to models such as ETP-WM, ETP-WM/E, ETP-WMS, ETP-WMSE, ETP-MT/R, WEBS-WM, and WEBS-MT/R.
- Clean solar panels, if applicable, with mild soap and water to ensure efficiency.
QUARTERLY/BIANNUALLY - ADVANCED: Perform detailed inspection of phones and mounts.
IMPORTANT NOTE: These tasks are optional if functional test and surface inspection reveal no concerns. If performed properly by a technician, they can extend the life of the unit.
- Remove phone from enclosure.
- Remove back box from phone.
- Check microphone for damage, obstructions, and infestation.
- Check speaker for damage, obstructions, and infestation.
- Check that all electrical and phone connections are secure and clean.
- Clean any corroded connections and coat with dielectric gel or replace components.
- Check that gaskets are clean and still compress (stains indicate leaking—please replace).
- Contact Talk-A-Phone Co. to order replacement parts or to repair/replace your phone.
ANNUALLY: Perform battery maintenance and
environmental inspection for systems with batteries and/or wireless devices.
- Replace Real-Time Clock (RTC) battery on VOIP-500/VOIP-600 Series IP Call Stations, WEBS-CM-2 units, WEBS-PA-1 units, and WEBS-PA-2IP units. These models utilize a standard commercially available CR2032 battery.
- Power Charging Systems (PCS) and Solar Systems are designed so that batteries will last, on average, two (2) years. If installation conditions require a deep-discharge, the batteries may not last as long. Replacement batteries are available as Talkaphone P/N 68594.
- Inspect solar and wireless installations requiring line-of-sight to ensure no plant growth, construction, or other obstructions block the solar panels or pathways between the remote and base wireless units.
