Introduction

When planning the design of a system for emergency communication, area of refuge (rescue assistance), or other similar needs, the question of mounting locations, heights, etc. often comes to mind.  Please refer to the below resources as they pertain to such questions on ADA compliance.

Reach Range

In general, the maximum reach range for an operable part of the call station is 48-inches.

407.4.9 Emergency Communication. Emergency two-way communication systems shall comply with 308. Tactile symbols and characters shall be provided adjacent to the device and shall comply with 703.2.
